In 1983, Casio launched the G-Shock collection — highly shock-resistant tactical watches with outstanding water-resistant features. Created by Kikuo Ibe, an engineer based in Japan, G-shock became a global phenomenon. The collection raised new standards for durability and long-lasting mechanical watches. These include the radio-controlled solar-powered functions, compass bearings and altitude measurements using sensor technology, among others, providing the ultimate experience for a Casio user. Offering four main models, all Oceanus timepieces are worth every consideration when it comes to functionality and style.
Encased in an Oceanus original blue and titanium hard coating, this watch is elegant design and technology-packed. With the use of high-density technology, Casio was able to reduce the number of core components and provide a more convenient and lightweight watch for wearers. Enhanced by glowing hands and markers, the dial features a luminous layer, adding sophistication to its overall look. These include an advanced time-correction system, bluetooth and chronograph functions, perpetual calendar (until 2100), and a power reserve indicator. What’s more, with its radio-controlled signals, you can rest assured that the time displayed is always the most accurate. Made with premium leather from Casio, its calf leather strap complements the dial perfectly, giving more attention to the ocean blue chronographs, sub-dials and a logo. It has a smart access function that translates standard time radio waves transmitted from all six globally situated transmission stations for accurate timekeeping. With a solid titanium case and bracelet, it features some of Casio’s prided innovations. These include a magnetic interference-resistant, GPS signal reception, tough solar, and a bluetooth wireless linkage. Flaunting a unique dual-curved sapphire crystal, its timeless sophistication will be sure to charm its wearer. With a nautical-themed colour scheme, it evokes a dreamy vibe due to its subtle blue accents and silver-white dial. The dial displays three sub-dials, a date window, and blue luminous hands and hour markers. These features certainly add characters to the otherwise simple design. Throw in a tachymeter and a 100m water-resistance, and this is a perfect timepiece for the adventure-seeker. The entire model is made of titanium and finished with a tough steel bracelet. The black dial displays blue luminous hour markers, glowing hands and minute markers. With additional functions such as perpetual calendar and date, this watch packs a punch.
And like others in the collection, it also features a worldwide date function. However, for Casio, it’s all about creating masterpieces that last a lifetime. An elegantly slim case that only has 9.5 mm thickness is the result of one-sided mounting with high-density technology and reducing the module components. Furthermore, the advanced time-correction system acquires accurate time around the world. Simple operations for various functions are also possible using the smartphone link apps. The OCW-S5000 is the achievement of 15 years of OCEANUS evolution in pursuit of elegance and technology. The original, elegant style of OCEANUS is moving to a new era of innovation. The module parts have been reduced intentionally in size on the order of 0.01 mm units. This further reduces the thickness by approximately 0.5 mm. The original blue colouring and titanium silver are well-matched in this innovative watch.By having the band attach directly to the case, the extended range improves wearability. Additionally, a sliding adjustment clasp makes it easy to change the length without tools.Gradations on the reverse side due to vaporisation reflect a beautiful shine. It achieves an even more beautiful colour and high-quality feel compared to previous vaporisation techniques on the back side of the dial. The bluish-gray colour was newly developed under the concept of “cool ocean”. Boutilier 5.0 out of 5 stars Most titanium watches are not treated or hardened and are much easier to scratch than stainless steel. It's quick to adjust to time zones for 29 cities. Once fully charged by light it can run for up to a year without light, and remain charged but inactive in the dark for up to 3 years. The lume glows a white-blue, with overall good brightness and duration for its area and thickness. It has a perpetual calendar through to 2099 so it will compensate for shorter and longer months and leap years so the correct day of month is always shown until then. Changing time zone is a simple as pulling out the crown (which causes the second hand to point to the currently set city) and turning it so the second hand points at the new city, then pushing the crown back in (the time will adjust and resume at the correct time for that city). Excellent for air travel. This is a great looking watch, suitable anywhere from fairly casual to fairly dressy, that’s tough, durable, accurate, and relatively maintenance free.
Highly recommended.Shipping was very fast for me, mines took 4 days to be shipped from Japan to LA (I did choose expedited shipping though). I wore this watch for a week before I gave my review: PROS - Very nice looking watch, even prettier in person than the photos that are shown in the product shots. - Automatic time and date setting via radio. Overall, I am happy with the watch and enjoy wearing it. It has a good balance of technology and tradition for me that it seems that it can last for many years to come.Just want to clarify the size. The 41.5mm diameter includes the crown. The blue accents are a nice touch, including the blue ring above the chapter ring. It feels very sturdy, although light due to the titanium. The crown is a push, not screw down. The lume is blueish and fairly bright. The bracelet comes with 2 half links and the clasp has 2 spots for attaching the bracelet to (this is the micro adjustment). The links are secured with a roll and pin (the roll falls out easily when the pin isn't it in so be careful when sizing). I believe the links are solid (not hollow center). The clasp is a single deployant with dual push buttons. The radio sync doesn't know your timezone, so you need to set it to the correct timezone. The second hand looks on point for each mark, better than some quartz double this price range. There is a button at 2 o'clock that does not protrude pass the case and would not be needed for normal operations. It's for lining up the hands, date, changing to special time zones, turn on and off radio sync, etc etc). The button on the 4 o'clock is for manual sync and to check to see if see if it successfully synced last time. It is less than 10mm thick so will fit under any cuff without issues. This watch is perfect for traveling since all you have to do is pull the crown out and move it to the new timezone you're in. Even if you are unable to sync to the correct time for a month, it will probably still be correct to the minute.
This watch is slim and readable with an elegantly simple user interface. It came charged up and running, set to Tokyo time. I reset to eastern time and at midnight, it synched to the atomic clock, and now both watches' second hands move exactly together. The watch is deceptively light, being made of titanium but looking like stainless steel. Be careful when resizing the bracelet. There are small collar pieces which hold the pins in place. If they slip out, they need to be put back into the central link, or the pins will slip out. Overall a trouble free, accurate, fairly conservative and dressy design. Just remember to place it on a window sill at night. The only complaint I have is very weak luminous chemical used, so it is very hard to see the time in low light conditions. I saw this complaint on watchuseek.com before ordering, so not going to remove a star. Just be aware that it is almost non-existent.Sorry, we failed to record your vote. I got over this feeling after wearing it for a day. The finishing is really like that of a Grand Seiko. Perfect size for any wrist. Dial is black but reflects lots of blue. I'm in love with this watch.

The OCW-T200S-1AJF model in this review with the dark blue dial and steel bracelet was purchased in Japan recently and I have had a couple of weeks with the watch on my wrist.A dark blue and light blue dial on stainless steel bracelet and a mid-blue dial that comes with both a blue and a brown leather strap. The straps have quick-release spring bars for easy strap changes. The colors that show in the stock pictures are close to real life but will of course change a bit in different light situations. It was a bit difficult to choose between the models as they all have their own unique qualities. The light-blue dial is a color you don't see very often and it is a nice shade. While the hands are not as contrasting with the dial as the dark blue model, it was still very easy to read the time. The mid-blue dial was actually my favorite but of course doesn't come with the bracelet. The leather straps felt nice and comfortable. I will focus on the dark-blue model that I purchased but most applies to the other models as well. The lug-to-lug size is 49 mm and the lug width is 20 mm. These are standard lugs so you can wear it on the bracelet and any leather or fabric nato strap. Most nato straps should fit fine but thicker zulu or seatbelt straps may not fit between the case and spring bars. The sapphire crystal is flat and is framed by a flat brushed bezel. The dial looks very clean and just has the Casio and Oceanus names and the Oceanus manta logo. The sun-ray dial is very nicely done and you can not see any solar charging details at all. The date is big and easy to read. The bracelet is good quality and is comfortable to wear. This means you can adjust the bracelet in 3mm increments. There also are 2 pairs of adjustment holes on the bracelet for 3 mm adjustments as well. The links are joined together with a pin and collar and removing or adding links is quick and easy. Most of us are familiar with these features so I won't be going into any detail here.
Pairing the watch with an iPhone was very easy with the Oceanus Connected app you can download from the app store for iOS and Android (see links below). The main functionality is time sync when the watch is not within range of the radio transmitters. Another reason to like this app is switching between time zones as it can sync the watch to the same time on your phone. The procedure is very simple: open the app on your phone, hold the button on the watch for about 2 seconds until the hand points to RC on the dial and you will see the hands (and date) magically move to the new local time where you are at, providing you have auto time adjust set on your phone.Just pull it out and turn the crown to the new time zone. As there are no city markings on the dial or bezel, you select the time zone as an offset to UTC. UTC is the 12 o'clock dial position and offsets are to the left or right of the 00 dial marker. For example, Eastern Standard Time in the USA is UTC -5 so you would point the seconds hand to 0:55 on the dial.Yodobashi is another large chain with a wide selection of watches by many brands. The Oceanus model range is JDM (Japan Domestic Market) only so you would have to buy online when you'r outside Japan. All these stores are trustworthy places to buy and often have great reviews in the online watch community. Another good place to buy is on Rakuten Global Market which is a marketplace with many sellers in Japan. Sign up for the cash-back site Rakuten (formerly eBates) and you may get a deal with the 10 -20% cashback promotions they frequently run.You don't have to pay sales tax as a tourist and you will have to show your passport for the tax-free price. Prices online are often a bit higher but you can still find a good deal with some patience. The S100 may be more suitable for smaller wrists but I like the slightly bigger size and weight of the T200.It is good to see Casio didn't put Tough Mvt.
The S100 was a bit too light in weight for me and I prefer the feel and look of stainless steel vs titanium. But this is just personal preference. The city names on the dial of the S100 may make time zone adjust a bit easier if you don't use the app on the T200. On the other hand, the lack of city names makes for a cleaner look on the T200.This watch is manufactured at Casio's premium production line in Yamagata so Made in Japan which is always a plus. I think all Oceanus watches are made in Japan but can't confirm that for sure.Is one better than the other. Both have their unique features, quality and designs so it completely depends on personal preference. The S100 is a classic design and looks a bit more upscale. It is model that has been for sale for a while and is praised by many in the online watch community. It may be more suitable for smaller wrists or if you just prefer smaller watches. The Bluetooth connectivity is a plus for me and I like the slightly larger size and higher weight for a more substantial feel on the wrist. But you can't go wrong with either one and the most difficult part is choosing between the dark blue, mid blue or light blue dial colors and leather strap or bracelet. This watch was purchased with my own money and I didn't receive any financial or other compensation for making this review. Please share your comments below! Nice to see it on straps too.Spring bar to spring bar measures 44 mm.Is it 316L? I tried to find this information online, but it’s not been discussed as much. Lastly, do you recommend servicing Oceanus watches as mechanical watches? You won't have to replace batteries so the back never has to be opened. You won't have to replace batteries so the back never has to be opened.Oceanus is such an interesting breed of watches. I have Casio Lineage LCW-M100DSE and it is almost as good as new Oceanus. Main feature in old Oceanus for me was independent motor for hour hand and it makes this model a premium feel to me.
Around 29 if am not wrong Spring bar to spring bar measures 44 mm.I have a small wrist and can take maximum 47 mm. 46 mm or smaller, better If you don't mind me asking, what is your wrist size. And I guess to get a sense of scale; my go-to favorite watch is my Rolex GMT Master II. I think the case size is the same, but the lug to lug is much smaller. Thanks! Just measure the width of your wrist instead of the circumference and you can figure out if the lugs will overhang or not.Do you have any experience with the S5000?And it can be adjusted if it is not. One of the reasons I will only have a quartz watch with this feature. So I hope that with the Oceanus everything will be perfect.Unfortunately the second hand hits the indexes inaccurately. Although I carried out the calibration. I am really disappointed. I don't want to upload any pictures here, but if you want I can email you some. You can use the watch to trigger a sound on your phone. Just hold the side button for 5 seconds and it will trigger an alert after few seconds. Press the button again and it stops. Pretty cool! But it's not a constant offset and I don't think you can set the second hand for all 60 indexes individually. Or is it?But it's not a constant offset and I don't think you can set the second hand for all 60 indexes individually. Or is it?Perhaps you can still return it and get a replacement. By calibrating with an atomic clock a watch will have an accuracy of approximately 1 second in 100,000 years. It had the receiver mounted in its strap and during the early morning hours would receive signals from the atomic clock in Frankfurt. The same year saw Citizen announce the world’s thinnest atomic watch at just 6.8mm thick. Thickness had been a problem in design due to the built-in antenna.
Citizen, Casio and Seiko had been competing in the development of thinner more fashionable models. Together they developed an internal mechanism that was 4-5mm slimmer than previous ones. As a result Seiko then released three new models for its Dolce series which were 7.9mm thick and retailed as 73,500yen. Read more here. In 1905 the US Navy began transmitting time signals at Noon from Washington D.C and in 1910 France followed suit broadcasting signals from the Eiffel Tower at midnight. So it made sense to transmit time signals from Atomic Clocks once the technology became available. The small radio antenna inside the watch decodes the time coded signals and using these signals the watch then sychronises itself. This is set to occur automatically each day. Therefore the watch never needs to be reset and has the capability to adjust automatically for daylight savings, leap years as well as even different time zones. Its a good idea to check this indicator in the mornings because atomic watches are pre-programmed to receive signals during the night. This is because the antenna is small and there is less intereference at night. Signals become weaker outside the smaller circles indicated by dashed lines in the the nearby maps, so the reception environment has a greater effect on signal reception. Also if possible avoid having metal objects within close proximity. If you want to force your watch to search for a signal and synchronise instead of wating until its pre-programmed time, most atomic watches come with a manual receive function that can be activated. From Dung to DNA. The Seiko H558-5009 Ressence Type 3 liquid filled watch gives dial illusion Will the haldimann h9 become the most controversial “watch” of 2012. This heavy-hitter combination of the more elegant Casio Oceanus line and the unique feature-set of the movement certainly is designed to be Casio’s answer to Seiko’s Astron Solar GPS watches ( which we reviewed here ).
Radio controlled watches can sync up with signals coming from six different sources, which are located in Germany, the United Kingdom, the US, China, and there are two frequencies in Japan. “Radio wave reception” is done automatically up to six times a day (five in China), which guarantees that the already highly accurate quartz movement inside the watch remains extremely close to the atomic clocks. As such, the extensive list of features includes 40 different world time zones (27 cities with daylight saving times), a “dual dial world time” which is basically a subdial with a 24-hour display to be used as a secondary timezone. Displaying such an overwhelming amount of information without digital displays is certainly an impressive feat, which in turn requires a lot of text to be added to the dial. The case is water resistant to 100 meters, meaning that despite the high-end technology inside, it should be able to put up with most abuse such a potentially world-traveling watch may have to endure.
